During a community visioning workshop held in 2016 for West Haven’s 2017 Plan of Conservation & Development, one participant remarked about the condition of the City: “We Need to Raise the Bar!” This represented the overall sentiment of the residents who participated in the workshop, in addition to those who participated in other POCD-related events. They were especially concerned about the condition of the waterfront and the lagging state of economic development in the City at the time.

The results of the Citywide Survey reveal that residents generally recognize that progress has been made in “raising the bar.” However, there is still plenty of room for the bar to continue to be raised for West Haven to be the best city that it can be.
